To hide your Rebit collection from other users, open Profile > Settings > Privacy and enable Private library. This does not make every part of your account or multiplayer session private. Your account profile has separate behavior, and saved replay URLs are public: anyone with a working replay link can watch without signing in.
If you play retro games online with friends, decide what you want to share before sending a link. A friend browsing your collection, a player seeing your screen, and someone watching a saved match are three different audiences. One switch does not manage all three.
Choose the control for what you want to hide
The current Privacy and Safety manual distinguishes these controls:
| Your goal | Relevant control or check | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Hide your game collection from other users | Enable Private library | This does not mean the whole account profile disappears |
| Hide Pokémon trainer profiles from other users and the directory | Enable Private library | You can still access your own registered profiles |
| Keep each player on their own screen in a supported GBA Link Cable room | Host with Allow other screens turned off | This does not make saved replay storage private |
| Keep a saved recording within a chosen audience | Decide whether to share its URL at all | A working replay link does not require the viewer to sign in |
These distinctions matter even in a small group. For example, you might happily show your friend the game you are playing while keeping your broader collection out of public browsing. Or you might want to play together without posting a recording afterward. Those are different choices, not conflicting ones.
Make the library private, then check as a visitor
- Open Profile > Settings > Privacy.
- Turn on Private library.
- Return to your own library. Your games should remain available to you; hiding a collection is not a deletion action.
- Ask a trusted friend to check the shared profile or game page from their own account, or inspect the public page in a signed-out browser window.
- Check the specific content you intended to hide rather than judging only from whether the profile URL still opens.
The last step avoids a misleading test. Seeing your own collection while signed in as its owner does not establish that another person can see it. Conversely, a profile page opening does not establish that the collection is visible.
Keep the check narrow: can the visitor browse the collection or trainer profile you meant to restrict? If they can, record the page URL, whether they were signed in, and what was visible. Send those details to support without posting private account information or files. Do not delete your games as a workaround for a visibility question.
Choose screen sharing before creating the room
For supported GBA Link Cable rooms, the host can turn off Allow other screens before creating the room. Players then see their own screens, and live spectating is unavailable for that room. The manual specifies that changing this choice requires creating a new room.
Agree on this before a session begins. If a player expects other screens to be hidden, do not discover halfway through a match that the host chose otherwise. This is a screen-sharing control; it should not be described as a universal private-room guarantee or assumed to exist in every multiplayer mode.
For a group that also wants to record, read the Watch and Multiplayer Replays manual separately. A restriction on live screens is not permission to distribute a saved recording, and it is not an access restriction on that recording's URL.
Treat a replay URL as something the recipient can forward
A saved replay link is not an invitation limited to the people who played. Rebit's manual says it can be opened without signing in. Turning on Private library should therefore not be used as a way to secure a replay you have already shared.
Before sending the URL, ask the players where it can go: just the group chat, a community channel, or a public post. That agreement expresses the intended audience; it does not technically prevent forwarding. If that distinction is unacceptable for a particular recording, do not distribute the link.
For the practical differences between an invitation, live Watch, a replay and a video, use the match-sharing guide. This article focuses on visibility choices rather than replay playback or editing.
A short check before your next game night
Try this message with your group:
I'll keep my library private. Before we start, let's agree whether other player screens will be visible and whether anyone will share a replay afterward. Please ask before posting a recording outside this chat.
That is a sample agreement, not a claim that the app enforces those social boundaries. Review the actual settings together, then use the online play with friends guide for the session itself.
Rebit does not provide copyrighted ROM downloads; bring legally owned game files. You do not need to send game files, BIOS files, credentials, or private save data to explain a visibility problem. Start with the page and the audience: what could that visitor see, and what did you expect to hide?
